What is laser technology
Laser technology cutting uses a high-powered beam to cut material based on computer-controlled parameters. As the laser guides its beam along the material, everything in its direct path is vaporized burned or melted. One of the benefits of laser cutting technology is the cut product rarely needs any finishing work as this process ensures a high-quality surface finish.
Basic Mechanics of Laser Cutting Technology
When cutting multi-layer material, the laser beam can be precisely controlled to cut through the top layer without cutting through the other layers of the material.
Material thickness and density are important factors to consider when laser cutting. Cutting through thin material requires less laser energy than cutting the same material in a thicker form. Lower density material typically requires less laser energy. However, increasing laser power level generally improves laser cutting speed.
Laser technology benefits
Laser cutting presents certain advantages over plasma cutting. As this process is more precise and uses less energy when cutting steel and aluminium sheets.
