How to choose fiber laser marking machine among 20w 30w 50w 100w-Max

Before choosing fiber laser marking machine, let us know firstly how it works.

The laser marking is with a laser beam to get permanent marks on a variety of different material surfaces.

The effect of marking is to expose the deep matter by the evaporation of the surface material,

or to “mark” the trace by the chemical and physical reactions of the surface material caused by the laser energy,

or to burn some of the material by laser energy, light to achieve the needed patterns and text.

There are 20w 30w 50w and 100w in current laser market. Different laser power can achieve different results.

Now we are moving to the work performance each power can do.

 1. 20w fiber laser marking machine.

It is the minimum laser power now, also with the lowest price.

It is mainly for marking on material surface, like steel, brass, coated metal.  For engraving, it has capacity limit.

It can not engrave too deep and engraving time will be very long. Meanwhile the engraving result is also not good.

E.g. It at most can engrave 0.5mm on steel with 30 minutes or one hour.

2. 30w fiber laser marking machine

30w has more peak power than 20w. Besides same marking ability, 30w can also do better engraving.

For cutting, most of customers cut gold and silver. 30w also has much good performance on that.

It can cut maximum 0.7mm silver and 1mm gold.

Based on those, no matter on performance, but also on cost, 30w is also the most popular type.

3. 50w fiber laser marking machine

50w can be treated as the updated version of 30w. For choosing 50w, it is mainly for engraving and cutting.

Comparing to 30w, it will take almost half using time for engraving or cutting same materials.

Of course it can cut 0.3mm thicker silver and 0.5mm gold than 30w.

4.100w fiber laser marking machine

It seems one new product for the new requirements of thicker cutting and deeper engraving.

So in market it is rare to see.

In conclusion, if you mark most and not deep engraving, 20w is the first choice.

If you mark and engrave often, but using time is not an issue, you can consider 30w.

If you need higher efficiency of engraving and cutting, also budget is enough, choose 50w.

Actually 20w 30w and 50w can meet 90-95% needs. so 100w is only one good reference for some special requirements.
