Machine Bed:

The main function of machine bed is support all the parts working. The range of load-bearing ability is between 800kg to 1500kg. Its own weight is able to ensure the machine’s stability.

Laser source:

A device for generating a laser beam source. For the laser source of XT Laser, we use IPG, Raycus, and Nlight. Sometimes we also provide other brands’ laser source. The machine power we have 500 watt and above. Those laser source we use is the mainstream laser source you can find in this market.

Cutting head:

Mainly include part like cutting head body, focus lens, protective mirrors, capacitance type sensor Auxiliary gas nozzles and other parts. The cutting head drive device is used to drive the cutting head alone Z axis according to the program. It is composed of servo motor and transmission parts such as ball screw or gear.

Driving system:

The machine’s move is through the fit of control system and machine. Control system give the servo motor to produce the kinetic energy, the X,Y and  Z axis are moved by kinetic energy. By the rail guide and rack, machine will move on X and Y axis. For Z axis, the cutting head up and down by screw rod. We also put reducer under the servo motor. In this way, the reducer could protect this machine run well.

For cooling laser source and focus lens, reflective mirror in cutting head.

Gas Group

1 Gas tank Mainly used to supply cutting head assistant gas.
2 Air compressor and container: To provide and keep assist gas for cutting.

The marking machine able to cut or not,  that is the most question I was asked when I was in Shanghai for APPP EXPO last week. During the EXPO, we displayed our fiber laser marking machine to audiences. We run this machine, let it to mark, to engrave. And because of the effect is perfect. Our machine attracted lots of customers to circusee. Because we engrave the stainless steel and aluminum on the EXPO, so many customer ask us the question. Whether it can cut?

So first, in principle, yes, the machine is able to cut metal indeed. But it is not same like laser cutting machine. Because of the laser source are different,the laser source of fiber laser marking machine is pulse laser. However, laser source of fiber laser cutting machine is continuous laser. The laser type is different. The more important is fiber laser cutting machine’s laser power stronger than fiber laser marking machine a lot.

So the fiber laser cutting machine is much easier to cut metal sheet than fiber laser marking machine. And when we use laser marking machine to cut metal, In principle, this is a process of repeat marking. Base on our knowledge, laser mark once will left 0.01m‘s depth on material. So if people want to cut metal by laser marking machine, in principle, you need let the machine repeat over and over again. And wait for a long time, then the materials should be cut off by the machine.

So, how about in reality? Is the machine able to do that. If you really want to cut some metal by fiber laser marking machine. Carbon Steel.

Carbon Steel is not a high-reflection material. It is not like aluminum or brass. This material is the most suitable material for fiber laser cutting. For the cutting effect, any machines you can find in the market are able to cut carbon steel with a perfect effect.  The application of carbon steel is more and more extensive. The maximum thickness of carbon steel plate can be cut by modern laser cutting machine up to 20MM. the cutting seam of carbon steel can be controlled in the range of satisfactory width by using oxidation melting cutting mechanism, and the cutting seam of thin plate can be narrowed to about 0.1mm.

Stainless Steel.

Laser cutting of stainless steel, using the energy released by a laser beam to the surface of a steel plate to melt and vaporize the stainless steel. Laser cutting of stainless steel is a fast and effective method for manufacturing of stainless steel sheet as main component. Cutting speed, laser power, air pressure and so on are the most important technological parameters affecting the cutting quality of stainless steel. Compared with low carbon steel, stainless steel cutting requires higher laser power and higher oxygen pressure.

But the stainless steel cutting achieves satisfactory cutting effect, it is difficult to obtain the completely non-stick slag cutting seam. In general, high pressure nitrogen and laser beam coaxial injection are used to blow away molten metal so that no oxide is formed on the cutting surface. This is a good method, but more expensive than conventional oxygen cutting. One alternative to pure nitrogen is to use filtered compressed air in the workshop, which consists of 78% nitrogen.

The common two-dimensional laser marking machine has been widely used in the plane marking of various products. The 3D laser marking machine can realize the research and development of high-quality marking equipment for three-dimensional surface. The differences between 2D laser marking and 3D laser marking:

First, a wider range and finer lighting effects. There are two types marking of 3D machine : front focusing and rear focusing. When the front focusing mode adopts, the main purpose is to achieve a larger marking range. Generally, the X and Y axis deflection lenses is larger, incident laser spots is larger and obtain smaller focusing spots with higher laser beam energy density. So as to meet the standard requirements of a larger area.

Second, the focal length can change to realize three-dimensional marking. Because 3D marking can quickly change the focal length of laser and the position of laser beam. So it is possible to mark curved surfaces that cannot be realized in 2D in the past. After using 3D marking, the cylindrical marking in the light projection range can be completed at one time, greatly improving the processing efficiency. It is because the machine will only with one lens.  So that means if you choose one which is  incorrect. Then your machine may not able to achieve what you want it to do. So in usual, there are these model below:

50 * 50mm, 110 * 110mm, 175 * 175mm, 200 * 200mm, 300 * 300mm.

The lens’ price are same. So there are lots of customers are willing to choose bigger size. Because the model defined by working area. The customers who want the biggest one was thinking that might process bigger stuff. But is the idea correct?

Definitely no, I always say that there is not a machine could do anything for you.

How to choose lens?

First you need to know what is the maximum size you need to mark for your object. If the object is only 100*100mm, Then you choose 110*110mm. Do not choose bigger size. Because laser is a kind of light. If you do want to engraving, deep engraving, or even cutting. The lens you choose bigger, it means the laser from two sides are weaker.

When the scanning area reaches a certain level, the light spot diameter is very large, not sufficiently fine. Because the spot becomes large,the distortion increases,so the power density of laser decreases rapidly, and the working distance lengthens. This inevitably leads to the loss of laser energy. So it doesn’t conducive to precision machining.

By the way, when customers choosing it, the customers also need to consider the overall configuration. If you already decide to purchase a 20w machine. But you still want a 300*300mm lens. Then the power of laser is very weak.

So  in short, to choose best one for a machine, you need to consider it carefully.

What is Mopa laser marking machine?  As a sales person, for this question, I was often asked. So what is the Mopa laser on earth? I will give all the persons who read my blog a best answer.

Mopa is a name of laser source type. The difference between Mopa and regular fiber laser marking machine is not too big. Because, Mopa is fiber laser in principle. But Mopa’s pulse is adjustable. But for regular fiber laser machine, the laser source’s pulse is fixed. However both of them are fiber laser, the only difference in principle is whether it adjust the pulse.

Thus, why people design a laser source that could adjust laser pulse? What is it used for?

At present, the aluminium oxide is a general materials for smart phone case. The Mopa laser is very good to do it. If use the regular fiber laser source to mark aluminium oxide. It won’t mark black on it. You will see it is the grey color if you see at the front.  But if you see from two sides,  it will turn to black. And you can feel burr on the material surface. But using Mopa laser, these questions will be gone.

And  If you bought a Mopa marking machine. You just set the pulse be fixed. Then the machine will become a fiber laser marking machine. Then it will enhance the speed of marking. So the Mopa laser machine could become a regular laser marking machine. So that is why, price of Mopa will higher than fiber laser. Mopa laser machine has more functions.
